    Finally...El Torito

Yummy...mexican food. I don't remember ever having Mexican food back home. But...terrible terrible weather to accompany the day. Rain wasn't too bad, but boy was the wind blowing with a fury. Wrecked my poor $5 foldable umbrella too :(
It's a Friday, but thanks to the rain we can't play ball *sigh

I am absolutely hooked on The Con. I listen to the album so much I'll probably get sick of it sometime.
Did anyone know justin timberlake tickets go on sale today? Not that I was interested in getting them, just that they interfered with my plans to get other tickets. Couldn't access the ticketek website in the morning. Hmm...Brisbanites do love their mouseketeers...

I think I have too many online accounts. There's this blog, then facebook, friendster, deviantart, ebay, youtube, imeem and myspace...myspace cuz tegan and sara have an account there. hehe...Wonder if I missed any? oh yeah and emails I have the uni one, work, hotmail, yahoo and gmail...except I seldom login to yahoo anymore. I might be suffering from multiple-login fatigue.

    Current wishlist:
    - Canon EOS 400D
    - Tegan & Sara tickets
    - possibly another piercing? that requires more thinking

    I've got a ride

Yesss...no more carrying stinky heavy groceries in my back pack and green bag. Thanks to Ray, I now have a car. Thanks to mum for funds too :) Not much to say, except it feels awesome!

New album out by Tegan & Sara! The Con. Are these gals great or what? They are so talented and creative with their songs.

    Unfortunately...

"Unbiased" Today Tonight video as aired on Channel 7:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQGoKhZ_Vdo

Australia would be such a nice country if it weren't for that minority of buffoons who still think that 'white' is equivalent with superiority. It was quite a coincidence really, was just talking with Ray about how certain people treat you quite differently merely based on skin colour. And bam...they have to come along and prove us right. The little green man lights up, I walk across the road, a couple of maniacs in the car starts honking and calling out. Yeah...very nice. If I'm not mistaken, this is the 4th overt act of racism I have faced over my 1.5 year stay in Brisbane:
    1. old dude who snubbed us when asked for directions
    2. egg throwing idiots on Bowen Bridge Rd
    3. some guy who muttered menacingly at me when crossing a road in the Valley
    4. Second batch of idiots here at the traffic light outside RCH
maybe more but I don't remember

Uhmm...what does that say about life in Australia for an Asian? No...I don't mean that Australia is unpleasant for an Asian. It's just downgraded because of these people. At 1st I was mad, but then I just felt sad that these people existed here. Oh well, the world is far from perfect. We make our own happiness despite the world's imperfections. So fuck you all...I'm here no matter how many eggs you throw or how many times you honk!

Just needed to vent my spleen...mission accomplished.

Besides showing recognition to the 'downs' of the week, it is of course fair to mention the 'ups'. Despite planned dinner at El Torito not going as planned...I still had a good time. It's the company that counts, not the food right? Dreamy donuts at Jess's place was nice too! thx for the treat :)

See? the world can be perfect if we make it so.

    Ekka

Now I can say I've been to the Ekka...twice. It wasn't all that different from the one last year...maybe a few additions. At least this time I wasn't totally nauseas from the ride and could actually enjoy my dagwood dog.

I did get a Spongebob showbag which included a messenger bag, laptop sleeve (complete with big yellow Spongebob face), some magnets, a pen and a pair of yellow die with Spongebob eyes. The die are now hanging on my study lamp :) Boy am I gonna love using that bag for uni. Can't quite figure out what's the use of the inflatable Spongebob I bought though...
Also bought a wooden gun that shoots rubberbands...so cool...
What else...got those patch thingys that you iron onto garments or bags. Not really sure where I'll put them but I like them anyway.

Besides that we had dagwood dogs for lunch, had the nice Strawberry icecreams again and sampled anything edible at the Fresh Food pavilion. I guess the highlight was the animals. We saw a beagle dog show at the dog pavilion. So cute! We also explored all the stalls in the back, taking pics of the nice pedigree doggies...I love dogs.
There were also the heaps of cattle and horses around. The horses were pretty; the cows just smelled. The calves were really cute thought. There was this nursery area where you could pet the animals. I had so much fun there! I touched the cute little piglet's snout and petted it's cute little ass! haha...! It even tried to nibble my fingers! Reminded me of the Babe movie. Also petted a Golden retriever puppy, calves, lambs, goats, a donkey... :D
And guess what...they let us stroke the Alpaca! Who knew Alpaca are that affectionate?

At night there was a rodeo (1st time...never seen that before). That looked so dangerous even from far away in the stands. Can't imagine what it must be like to hang on to a bucking bull like that. Other programs were a chariot race (more for kids), and motocross freestyle. The motocross was nice cuz I'd never seen that live before either.
Hmmm...yeah and we managed to see all that and hop to the Sneaky Sound System stage before it had ended. The female vocalist Kylie was great.

Yeah...that was it. My Ekka 2007.

...almost forgot, we were also blown away by the "luxury" motor homes. So compact with beds, kitchen, shower living room all in that tiny space! Wouldn't be nice if you imagined it being like Donna's short-lived motor home in The 70's Show though...

    Needle, mouse and beetle

Yet again I have found myself in the tattoo chair...no no...I did not get another tattoo. Just got mine sort of re-outlined. And how nice of the Tattooist who did it FOC. Looks a little unbalanced now...but what the hey. Hmm, does this mean I now remember the pain more clearly and will forget about the thought of getting another one? No. But in the meantime my savings are safe as long as I haven't found myself an awesome design...much like the much loved one I already have :)

I have been thinking about getting a conch piercing on my right ear though...now that's isn't so hard cuz I'd only have to choose gauge and jewellery type. But then that's byebye $50 and having to sleep on my left. Which isn't that bad just a little annoying.

Yay I got my new logitech mouse from Ebay! It has a zebra pattern on it...cool or what. And best yet matches my computer.

And I got a VW Beetle to add to my collection. Can't say I love the orange...but still..it's a beetle.

And included random pics of pets just because...

    Time to get to it

So I've had a pretty laid back week (besides moot of course). I didn't study much, was too tired to do much after the basketball anyway. I watched She's the Man twice in a day. (yeah, like wtf?! rite?) But seriously, 12th Night is my all time favourite Shakespeare play, and I can't believe it took me this long to watch this modern soccer-orientated interpretion. Amanda Bynes...rock on! She's funny. There aren't enough actors out there who are both pretty and goofy. Ooh...there's Cameron Diaz. The rest seem too busy looking hot.
And I painted. Yeah...how weird is that. That was supposed to be my holiday time-filler so I guess that's way overdue. I'm just learning to use acrylics after not having painted probably since I was a junior in secondary school. Hey maybe I should do an action hero instead of these boring scenery. But then I'd just be copying something...and speaking of action heroes, I recently bought a bumblebee action figure and 3 matchbox cars. Don't ask, I don't really have an explanation.

It's like I have this internal time calculator or something, but with all this slacking I have to make up for it by the hour. I've gotten into this mindframe since 1st year...it's good but it also makes me a geek.

And I'm uploading 2 videos of my sweet little ratty boys here. Enjoy!

    It's all good

I've been bitchin' about it, stressing about it and really trying not to think about it. But I guess some things really aren't as bad as they seem. I did a moot, all by my lonesome cuz a "teammate" was a bloody idiot. Two weeks before the moot he's like: 'sure I'm in', then a week before: 'I've got this fancy work placement, I cant do it', then 3 days before 'ok I'm in again', and 10pm night before moot: 'i prepared arguments for the wrong side'. What the f@#%?! This is why I hate group assignments.

Whatever, I really owe a huge 'thank you' to the good mates who encouraged me to stick to it. Without people like that around me I'd just be a chicken.

What doesn't kill you just makes you stronger ey? I might take back what I said earlier, glad I did this...but still won't be rushing to do something like this soon. I suck at it! But I can learn.

And have I had a ball playing...er...ball. Yeah...2 crazy consecutive days of basketball which tired the hell out of me. We played full-court too. How many years since I'd done that...talking like an old lady. Anyway it's been really fun playing with these guys, can't believe I stopped playing for half a year cuz of work. If anything is more valueble than money it would be this I guess. Too bad Ray's going away, won't be as fun without him.

10 things to do before I die

Inspired by Channel 9's 10 Things to try before you die
By no means an exhaustive list
    1. Swim with a whaleshark
    2. See a hammerhead - both not really up to me
    3. Tour Europe - even the villages
    4. Learn to ride a horse
    5. Visit New York - just because its famous
    6. Sky dive or bungee
    7. Buy my home
    8. Eat sushi in Japan
    9. Own and drive around in a vintage convertible

    Enlighten me

After a weirdly disappointing situation (which warrants no further discussion), I had an epiphany. If you can actually call it that.
I will no longer try to put myself in a box to satisfy what I perceive as other's expectations of me. What people expect of someone like me.

Have you ever done stuff just because it should be "good for you"? Or "good for your career", or "useful for your future" but you actually have no desire to do it at all?

Of course if its compulsory for you course, then by all means do it. But why go through something you don't like when you don't have to? Does this sound contradictory? I'm not sure.

It's just a waste of time doing something you don't enjoy. Maybe I'm finally old enough to understand that.
That it's not all about going further in life but actually enjoying it. That seems like such a simple thing that any person should understand, but I seem to have been missing a point. I've been too busy worrying about where I should be than enjoying where I am.

Bottom line, there is no particular "me" that I should be. I just am.
