    My beautiful week

Damn...where did my mid semester break go? It's Saturday. Sunday...monday...ugh...

Still...great week, devoid of studies. Well at least not before today. Books on my desk today...have to get cracking.

    Here's what I did:

    Work

Someone at work needed people to make follow-up phone calls to a long list of clients. Who else but the cataloguing team to do it? And that meant me because the other cataloguing people don't do school holidays cuz they have kids. That was so weird, calling a whole bunch of strangers and asking them questions. Was a little apprehensive at first, but after that it just felt monotonous. Oh well...pays the bills.

    Gold Coast

Drove down the coast in my cute little Toyota for the 1st time with mum. I think that was the 1st real workout that I've given the car since I've had her. Hmmm...maybe I should name her. She's starting to grow on me. Isn't that what people call their boats? A 'she'.

Anyway, checked out main beach. And due to a huge geographical miscalculation, walked a huge way to surfers paradise as well. But it was nice, good way to stretch out legs. What better place to do that than along the beautiful white coast? Here's me walking on the beach.

Found out there that the night market was on, even on Wednesday. Lucky us. Used to be on only on Fridays. Stayed in surfers till about 7 and got home at 8. Boy, was I exhausted by then. Ooo...and in true surfers spirit, we saw a pair of Meter Maids. For people who don't know who they, are click here

Let's see...as to our loot by the end of the day, mum had a nice 'cancer council' hat and I had a cool new pair of shades.  Also got a $3 rattan mat to sit on the beach. Surfers may be tacky, but it's still fun in it's own way.

    Golden Key induction ceremony

This was so boring I'm gonna spare you the details. Unfortunately, missed out on Jess's barbie...sigh. Next time I'll have to set my priorities straight. At least I got to see the inside of the Brisbane City Council Hall for the 1st time. Fancy looking place with a huge organ in the middle. Yep...that was the interesting part.

Little Birdy at Pub 388, Valley

OMG! This was freakin' amazing! Katy and the guy on base were awesome. Love her voice. Highlights for me were Better Off Alone, Bodies, and Six Months in a Leaky Boat. Beautiful was great too.

Little Birdy music videos (but way better live of course):

    Beautiful

    Bodies

Come On Come On (is it me, or is this video donnie darko-ish?)

    Tonight's the Night

I have to admit, was soooo stuffy and hot. Was dripping wet by the end...like a giant sauna with lots of people and great music. But somehow Katy managed to look great rocking in her jacket and all. And stage was way too low. Thank goodness Katy had blonde hair, so could tell it was her head bobbing around over the other heads. Haha...I'm too short! Wouldn't it be great to be Sam's height?

Ooo...and thanks to the nice lady who let me have a good spot midway through the show. Wonderful how you can find nice people in all sorts of places.

Finished after midnight and we walked back home from the Valley. Never thought I'd ever do that, but Sam's a pretty big guy. Hehe...felt quite safe.Crazy thing was we'd been playing ball that afternoon and was exhausted even before the show started. Especially because of the last game with Sherman and Penelope. Geez...my feet are so sore right now. Was literally limping today.

Well that was my hol. I did some pretty boring stuff, and some pretty awesome stuff as well. Aaah...the freedom you feel when you have faith in others and let yourself go. Life is good.

    Great music video

Yet another reminder that I spend too much time on youtube...

    anyway,
this is an awesome song and video, you people have to check it out! ---> posted at the right vid box
    if not...here's the link: Feist - 1234
This video is seriously cool - as fun as any video with a big budget. It relied on manpower and choreography rather than special effects. Notice it's all done in one take.

She must really like dancing...see Feist - Mushaboom
Great song too. Very pretty voice.

Canadians are cool! hehe...I must visit sometime.

    fooling around

no, not that fooling around...just slacking. Well someone has to reward me for spending such a hellish time on the property drafting assignment. So painted a cheap T-shirt I bought from JayJays today. Harder than I thought...took about 2 hours. Of course there was some in-between drying time.  Maybe adding textile medium makes it dry slower. Or I'm just in an impatient mood. Everything is relative right?

Anyway, didn't exactly turn out as planned. Thought I might have more colours to it, was supposed to have a smaller red heart in the middle...but in the process thought too many colours might just make it look confusing. So here's the finished product. It's simple...hope I can get going and do some nice stuff soon. Inspiration for the design came from the T&S So Jealous album art, and also Sara's explanation of the 'Walking with a ghost' video.

I got 2 pairs of sneakers in Kmart for $10.50! That makes $5.25 each! haha...so happy, what a bargain. This time I'm gonna put some real planning into these shoes. Week long midsem break is coming, might be able to think up something then. Hmmm...if I really like this hobby I might end up having too many shoes to wear...Is there such a thing?

    FIFA women's world cup

Australia vs Norway is on TV now. How come I don't even know the women's World Cup is going on? Compare it to men's World Cup where you wouldn't be able to miss it if you tried to. Hmph...it's not unfairness or anything like that. Just the fact that a relatively small proportion of women like sports, as compared to men. It's almost abnormal for a guy not to like sports, at least like watching it. I digress...

My point? Well now you know it's on. Watch it women (or men...people...whatever), it's on TV! Show your support!

Update: it was a draw 1-1

It's summer in the sunshine state

Ok calender-wise, probably not. It should be something like spring? I don't think there's spring here. There's the couple of weeks of 'winter', then summer summer summer...

The weirdest thing I've noticed about Brisbanites? You can have 2 people walking side by side on the street, one wearing a singlet, board shorts and thongs, whilst the other is wearing a knitted top, jeans and boots. That's just visually confusing...like feeling hot and cold at the same time. But seriously people, it's hot. I've just had to break out my fan from its hibernation.

Chuck your jackets into storage, get out the thongs and board shorts! It's gonna be a long one!

I think this might also be an indication that I spend too much time on YouTube...

I might be going a little insane

I think I did some pretty unusual stuff lately. Example: bought something I could have gotten for free and bought skinny fit jeans.  No...I'm not going all emo. But sometimes when I get an idea into my head it's really hard to get it out. Like I've bought heaps of acrylic paints, textile medium, 2 plain T-shirts and 1 pair of white sneakers; all on the premise that I am going to paint them. I will I will...when I have the time. It's gonna be so cool...except I haven't really got real ideas on designs yet. It'll come to me in time..
Maybe my true calling is T-shirt and sneaker designing...guess I'll find out :)

We tend to take for granted lots of stuff we have back home, like cars and the lack of the need to use our legs. Like driving out and getting takeaway when you don't feel like cooking. I am so loving my little toyota right now. Too bad we've got water restrictions. I can't wash it.

Basketball today was fun, even though there were only 6 of us. Jessica defending Sam and me defending Sherman. Now that's weird. Weird but fun.

Multichoice exam tomorrow. Hmmm...week 8's coming. I still don't feel its fast enough. Jeez...can't wait for summer hols.

    Where does the good go?

Drove Ray to the airport last fri...sad day man, aiya...Ray Ray Ray...
It's funny how you get to know someone better just before they leave. Probably if he wasn't leaving we wouldn't have planned those outings and stuff. Too busy...excuses etc etc... So people, should appreciate the people around you huh?

Driving to the airport made me think about having to pick my dad up from the airport when he comes. Hmmm...that feels like a long time away. What's up with this semester? Everything seems to be going in slow mo. Izzit cuz my units are sooooooo $%^@ 'interesting'? Like Federal Constitutional Law...ooo...heads of power...No matter how important they are, it's still boring. We're only halfway past the semester...give me the exams already! Isn't it the best feeling? When you hand in the exam booklet and go "yessss...forget everything you learnt! Chuck all those legal principles!"

    ...but that's...(counting)...bout 7-8 weeks away...crap...
